The Dior-Silhouette: Iconic

Hello my beloved readership,

you call it wasp-waist, VOGUE UK calls it the Dior-Silhouette. There is nothing more iconic. Check out the timeless trend here and see how to style it.

“I want to be remembered as iconic and different.”
– The Weekend

I am aware of the fact that “iconic” is not the exactly matching word for the article I intent to write here. But it very much fits to a brand such as Christian Dior so I did choose this term by purpose referring to the trend and fashion-topic. In the next step I still refer to the topic of the article, which you can sum up with the term “iconic”. Nonetheless there are two howevers:

  1. since I learned about the term icon through religion I use this word with respect and
  2. I rather associate the term iconic with something positive – unlike the core topic of this article(?)

Basically the quote by The Weekend sums up the meaning of the word iconic quite well: Someone remarkable and memorable, who has left a trace in society and lifts themselves up with that.

As you have read public people receive a lot of hate on social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram. This hate often takes place arbitrarily and makes no sense at all – you can trust me with that, even scientifically specialized literature write about it this way. Because of that public hate should not be taken personal. Especially because it occurs by the very own dissatisfaction and lack of education by the ones hating. Apart from the fact that haters are using the technique to hide behind the safe barrier of anonymity and geographical distance they would never dare to take on a public appearance or give you the same comments face-to-face hate. This is also a reason why they cannot appreciate the effort you take when participating in a public television show for instance. But if you are the center of hate take that as confirmation that there is something you do that they cannot stand. That they are jealous of you, your courage, your effort and last but not least the success you gain. Hate is not ration but hate is bearing a lot of feelings and emotions that were left unrequited. You possibly reflect something, a spark, that enlightens within their darkness. Something iconic that they want to put down. So do not feel weak from this hate but take account of this to grow and continue to glow.

How to… The Dior-Silhouette

Paris is not only the city of love it is furthermore the birth place of the internationally known and honored fashion giants. If you have Paris under your label’s name you know that the world will be worshiping you. That is the way it is with the label founded in 1946. Christian Dior, meanwhile without its founder commonly known as Dior, classifies itself to Chanel. I remember how as child I even adored Dior more than Chanel. Because I felt about it to be more youthful with its rebellious, versatile and strong character. Other than that I felt about Chanel to be straighter and more structured with its very clean handwriting. Dior was more fierce and fanciful in a sweet way. That is what I like about it. Beyond that also felt more allured to the blue color with silver gracing the label. There is definitely nothing more iconic than Dior. Which is why I went blue with my key-piece and also chose a ribbon replacing any average belt. It is not about the length but the feminine wasp-waist created through two pieces. The rebellious part of my look served more the practicability but as well matched the look. And, of course you at least wear a lipstick by Dior if you are already wearing a style leaning on Dior.
