Dear readers,

for SS23 (spring/summer 2023) we feel like adding an important mission to our fashion-agenda with the mission to spread peace and love: find out more here.

“En Vogue”, “it-piece”, “fashionista” – when you are writing about fashion as a non-native in English for most of the people to understand it you cannot go without looking up the one or other expression. Especially in German and English words that you use such as “(Farb-)palette” would according to dictionaries rather be translated as gamut (of colors) in the most exact way even if the word Palette seduces you to directly use it in English, too. But whether you would be understood with that word in English or be considered a lazy noob… who knows? But in fact I had once read the term color-palette in English leaning on the word “Farbpalette” and even if I feel like people would think “what is she talking about?” when using words such as “item”, blazer, jog-pants… I realize that no matter if in German or English even if in the normal spoken language you would use different terms the wordings in fashion equalize. We all do speak the same fashion-language.

And this is quite a good thing because even if dress codes, styles and manners may be different in countries no matter if you are finding yourself in France, Japan or New York fashion reports take place all over the world about the world. Especially in times of social media, world movements and universality and globalism fashion inspiration is everywhere and comes from everywhere and anyone. Personal stories are shared which inspire many people at any age like it is never too late to start over and talented designers born everywhere to set trends we all want to follow and all of this is spread by the ones we also need: free and employed fashion journalists who care to support locals as well as the big players. Fashion enthusiasts and creatives find themselves as a big family or bundled power as well as solidarity to follow one mission: Peace, love and happiness.

Trend: Coarse Knit

Summer is quite tricky: while you do not trust the immediate appearance of high temperature and the burning sun around Easter midsummer feels like having two extremely different seasons at once – between autumn and summer everything is possible and once summer cools down either your home or the evenings or rather places in the shadows can ask for socks and jackets. What do we learn from this? Right, you always need a jacket in summer either. What I can very well observe throughout the last years is that not only restaurants, cafés and people in general can equip themselves with a cuddly blanket but also the perfect Bohemian summer look asks for knit to equip yourself with. Either as pullover or cardigan, knit is as well an essential in summer as for autumn as you got to find out here. However at this time coarse knit you can see through is preferred.

Trend: T-Shirts with a Message

April 2023 is a difficult time, we may have overcome the Corona-pandemic but the war in the Ukraine is still ongoing. That not enough economical crisis and inflation come along apart from the world-society being at daggers drawn with each other. Fashion is a way of expressing yourself and the world of fashion counting designers, editors, models and influencers into it finds itself more in the mission to set statements. And how could you do that better than with t-shirts? With peace standing in the spotlight this is the anti-war-statement that is concerning fashion most fight now. My personal message hereby is: love.

Trend: Fruity Lips

The more summer approaches the warmer and more intense the colors do become. So they do for lipsticks. The temperatures are rising, the days are getting brighter, the sun shines warmer. Life always seems lighter in the warm seasons, a cool fresh up is never feeling more satisfying than on a hot summer day and so do light meals and snacks for la dolce vita. Personally I always associate fruits such as different types of melon or berries with it. Not only the fruity taste touches your lips but as well the colors as light fruity lips are conquering hearts this season, too.
