Before Summer Ends…

Hello my dear readership,

before summer ends I would like to introduce you to another trend: Yacht-chic. See the variety of styles here which I had worn throughout summer.

Up to this point summer was a real crazy ride for me, it was a fight for survival, then we made a little trip to Cassel, which I told you about here, I had my very first concert as singer, became an aunt and sadly lost a person that I was holding very dear. All nearly at the same time. Almost after the European Soccer Cup in Germany the Olympic Games took place in France with an opening no one of us is ever going to forget, at the same time our episodes of “Die Küchenschlacht” which I mentioned here were aired (and you can still watch them here: episode 1, episode 2, episode 3, episode 4), I started a new job and I had a revival at “Die Küchenschlacht”, being one of the biggest supporters to my friend Jan-Timo, whom I cooked with. “Die Küchenschlacht” is always an experience, even if you are “just” sitting in the audience.

I believe it is one thing to wonder how it was possible to process all of this in so little time, which is why I do not even want to get started with it. But the other thing is: how does this correspond to fashion, self-expression and inspiration? There you will go: In the following comes a little summary with styles I wore during this summer of which I did not know I actually trend with and would like to show portray and highlight them once again. I am not a trend-hunter per se, sometimes you just dress to match the occasion and later on you realize that you actually shone brighter than you thought of yourself. Sometimes you get inspired elsewhere or normalize certain looks which you have found for yourself and talking about the choice of my styles there are two important points:

  1. #subwayshirt: I also belong to the women who suffer(ed) from sexual harassment on the streets. This is becoming quite a topic all over the world and gaining the attention of media. “Your outfit is not guilty” campaigns of big beauty-labels such as L’Oreal Paris say fighting sexual harassment against women in public places. At the same time women and girls tend to rather wear wide, long and non-feminine outfits to cover their beauty and not become the target of offenders. This is something I do too which is why I wear an outfit like the one I wore to present the shorts-trend here rather when I just visit friends at home by car without any further stops and moreover with my husband. I just wear these actual “beach”-outfits on places where wearing less is rather normalized such as at the Côte d’Azur/French Riviera.
  2. State of mine: Parenthood, or even as soon as you get into a relationship with your significant other you do get this reputation that your style tends to downgrade in means of getting rather sporty, quickly made and more comfortable. No glam, no visible effort and of course children are put forward as excuse for this. I must admit that you do not go on a stroll with high-heels as well as you cannot chase after your children once they start walking. And with everything else that comes with parenthood, a full-time job and married life your occasions for glamorous night outs might become less. Still the height of your shoes as well as the length of your skirt or the amount of suits you wear luckily do not define a trendy, solid style. Still, it is true that parenthood takes a lot of energy and that then again sometimes you lack the time to dress up and should motivate yourself to dress up.

Summer Trend: Yacht-Chic

The yacht-chic is a major summer-trend. It offers a variety of styles based on key-colors. Two of them are still present among the looks I had presented you recently: one of them is yellow which I had shown you from the beginning of this year’s trends here. This is one hand what the style is about. Basically the key-elements of the yacht-trend are supposed to remind you of the ocean, ports and basically the beach feeling. Simply the way you would dress on a yacht under the hot sun. The second color which I had already shown teasing this trend is ocean blue or rather turquoise which you had seen here. This color goes very well with another color of the ocean: coral red. I did not achieve to wear the both colors together however I did wear this color while I was supporting Jan-Timo during the Champion’s Week at “Die Küchenschlacht”. On the same occasion I achieved to meet and catch up with a chef I highly cherish and respect: No one less than “KHH” Karl-Heinz Hauser.

What do you think about when thinking about the summer and yachting? The sandy beach, shells, the rocks along the harbor? Besides from the colors of the ocean the vibes of the elements around are the second big player on the other hand of the Yacht-chic-trend. Coarse knit, sandy colors as well as beach bags are a must-have for summer. Perhaps this is why the outfit I wore on day one cheering for Jan-Timo at “Die Küchenschlacht” with out mate Matthias belongs to my favorite outfits. Because no matter if you are on a yacht, need to take the subway or prepare to spend some time in a cold studio a light pullover is mandatory. Therefore I modified my outfit for day 2 wearing my pullover over my shoulders. The occasions to meet “der Dirigent” (Engl.: the conductor) Thomas Martin, the two-star-awarded chef as well as Maurizio Oster were a true honor for me.
