Hello my dear readership,

autumn/winter 2023/2024 is bringing out the powerful, independent and strong women with us. The debut is made with power-shoulders which make you fear the girl.

It is probably not the first time that I think this about a topic but this time I want to drop the phrase: where should I just start with this topic…? Perhaps with the most obvious, the trigger. In fact there is one but I want to keep it general as this topic embraces a generally important issue.

When I interviewed a PR-manager from Hamburg for the MuK-Blog I learned that public people create an image which they sell themselves with. This is also the reason why (once this imagine changes at the slightest) people start to develop negative feelings of rejection. We still live in a time in which the majority of people is still not open for changes and fights against it. During my studies I learned that change is connected with negative emotions because it contains the unknown and brings insecurity with it.

But throughout the years as you (ideally) grow yourself you can observe the same kind of growth with public people: actors and actresses who want to break out of roles they seem to are branded in and singers or bands who are not their debut song any longer.

Guess what, people complain (I am going to get back to this topic about the complainers again) they complain a lot. They complain about anything they can find because obviously the public person does not meet their expectations any longer. But if I may tell you what they actually complain about is that they see the product and not the person, the human being, behind the product. Once it starts delivering something different than people are used to they are out.

Personally for me this is a horrible observation to make. People, so people standing in the public, grow and they develop. They develop further, they are reaching important milestones in life. They keep going and perhaps they might seem different but it is not necessarily about being different. In the end public people are also only humans who grow through the experiences they go through. They become adult being more confident about themselves not dependent on any kind of confirmation by anyone who does not matter. And in the end at that point you can be secure about their decisions and products they deliver as they would be standing fully behind them. Allow the growth and development to take place.

Trend: Power-Shoulders

Fran Fine also known as and from “The Nanny” once told us that one of her female ancestors warned you from tall, blonde women who are wearing shoulder-pads. Take off the “tall” and the “blonde”, shoulder-pads are not just a trend that is celebrating its revival and made women back then look as unattractive men. Shoulder-pads are a statement for female determination. Because girls under 35, let us be honest, who would wear wide shoulders just like that voluntarily if it was not for a statement to say “I do not fear you I have my armor on!” in times when we still need to fight our way through? Still you can put on a sweet smile while wearing it. Heroines are not unapproachable to anyone.

Make-Up-Trend: Green Eye-Shadow

Where there is blue, such as in my last article here, green is not far off as these two colors are the colors that are supposed to bring you good luck in 2023 according to the Chinese/lunar calendar. You can wear these two colors separately on your eyes or if you are a little big more brave and extravagant with your style combine the two colors as eye-make-up using thin and bold eye-liners additionally to your eye-shadow.
Hint: Personally I prefer to use the 3-step-eyeshadow-technique which is to first put eye-shadow with a corresponding brush on your eye-crease. This is the line between your lid and where the bone of the part under your eye-brow begins. As a second part you would put another color on your eye-lid. So no worries if you paint a little bit of your eye-lid while putting on the color on your eye-crease. Last but not least a third color would be applied on the part under your eyebrow. You can either use one brush for all the three parts (whereas you should then clean off the previous color as much as you can of it) or you can have three different brushes. If you need a quicker or less complicated eye-make-up you can go with one color, too. Just make sure that you have used primer and highlighted your eyes before.
