Blue, the color of harmony, satisfaction, calmness, infinity, …
Hello my beloved readership,
the year of the metal rat without the corresponding color as one of the colors of the year? No way! The color of the year in summer is classic blue in all its nuances. As yellow it is allowed to combine it with black and white but blue is back and blue is on the focus.
Winter, spring, summer and fall – the parts of a whole year but each one of them characteristic and independent in their very own way. There it is no surprise that each season another color is declared the it-color of the year. In spring it was yellow and now in summer it is the classic blue also known as the (friendly, new) black of summertime.
As the designer Liz Malraux taught us at the beginning of the year during her fashion show it is allowed to combine the it-color with black and white. Like this the focus is still going to be on the color that matters as it stands out of the unbeaten color-duo. But as with the last “color of the year”-article I am going to dedicate myself to the color itself, do some color-studies with you and tell you about the meaning and symbolic of the color blue. One thing ahead: among men as well as women blue is declared to be the most popular color. In the following you are going to know why.
“All its positive properties make blue finally become the most the popular color among the people.”

Blue is Back
Do you know how the flag of peace looks like? A white bird with spread-out wings on a clear blue background. The most famous meaning of blue is peace. This goes back to its effect of being calming and relaxing therefore this color is perfect to find inner and outer peace in oneself and reduce stress and rush – which is actually quite important as stress can be a major indicator for massive following diseases. Blue can help to loosen muscular tension as a result of nervosity and makes the heart calm down again. Also it finds the balanced energy for our organism to master the increasingly hectic everyday life calmly and relaxed. Among all the colors blue is used for therapy, like this it happens to heal typical symptoms of a cold or a flu and furthermore as an meditative color blue helps to recover and regenerade.
With blue people associate the large shining sunny sky and the unfathomable depths of the ocean. It used to be present for magical rituals or to strengthen witching spells. But besides from peace its second famous meaning is loyalty which supports laughter and cheerfulness. As the color of the ocean thirdly blue is the truth as its clearness brings the truth to the surface.
All its positive properties make blue finally become the most the popular color among the people. The following result makes blue be fourthly the color of trust and reliability. More positive associations are sympathy, friendliness, friendship, yearning, smartness, science, exactness, punctuality, concentration, sportiness, accomplishment, bravery, simply the ideal. But the downside of all this positivity is that blue can also symbolize the death, lies, coldness and drunkenness.
Being the color of the endless see and sky blue is symbolizing infinity as well as distance and width. Apart from that it also portrays the soul, the uncertain, unconscious, darkness and the female side (this lies in connection with the religious meaning that in the Orthodox church blue is the color for females while red belongs to the males).
Thus being able to fade blue is a strong and continual color. Like black – or even better than black (?) – it is an all-rounder with a huge positive and happy effect and in its classy shade always prominent no matter what and no matter when it will be blue is always going to be back in a while. You immediately start to miss it right after you got rid of it because of its constant presence. I missed blue and you?
